Caramba! This is a good one. It is adapted from the recipe booklet that comes with the Domaine de Canton, and if you like a marg you will enjoy this cocktail. At first sniff and sip, I thought it might be another “too much Mezcal” drink, but no. And now I’m wishing I had made it a little bigger. Ingredients:
- 1.25 oz Domaine de Canton (1 oz if you use tequila)
- 0.75 oz Mezcal (Sombra – 1 oz if you use tequila)
- 0.5 oz triple sec (Cointreau)
- 0.5 oz fresh squeezed lime juice
Chill a coupe in the freezer and put some flaked salt in a flat plate. Juice a lime and set aside a piece of rind for garnish. Fill shaker with ice, add ingredients, and shake vigorously for 30 seconds -the dilution is important. Retrieve the glass, coat the rim with the salt, and strain the ingredients into the glass. Twist the lime garnish into the glass to release the oils. So good.

I had made this before when Dave posted it. It was delicious, After making about 50 of these last night for a house full of guests, I modified the recipe a bit and now I like it even more. I went to 1 oz Mezcal, 1 oz Domaine de Canton, 3/4 oz lime juice and 1/2 oz Cointreau. For guests who didn’t like the smokey flavor of the Mezcal, I upped the quantity and switched to tequila. So, 1-1/2 oz of Reposado Tequila, 1 oz Domaine de Canton, 3/4 oz Lime Juice and 1/2 oz Cointreau. Great summer drink!
