It’s the first day of summer and it’s time to think about serving refreshing drinks by the gallon. Who wants to wait on guests mixing finicky drinks when it’s hot outside anyway? It’s great when you can mix ’em up in volume and have people serve themselves. How are you gonna keep them happy and man the barbecue any other way?
After my last post with two Ginger Liqueur based drinks, you might think I’ve gone off the ginger and alcohol deep end. But, while I still had the fresh ginger at the bar, I thought I would see what kind of refreshing drink I could concoct. I had already purchased Ginger Beer (it’s non-alcoholic, BTW) to make Dark ‘n Stormies (I still have to write that post), so I mixed the ginger beer and ginger together with some Tequila and lime juice and came up with something very tasty and refreshing. The Ginger Beer Refresher.
Makes 3-4 ice-filled, pint-sized drinks.
- 4 oz Tequila ( I used Reposado)
- 12 oz Ginger Beer
- 5-6 Dashes of Orange Bitters (I used Regan’s – as always, don’t be afraid to go big here)
- 1 Tsp Finely grated fresh Ginger
- 1 1/2 oz Lime Juice (as always, freshly squeezed is better, but I’m lazy)
