The Aviation Cocktail is a classic drink – one of those created by some bartender at a fancy hotel in New York during the early 20th century like a thousand other drinks. The drink has an unusual flavor with the gin balanced by the sweetness of the maraschino liquor.
- 2 oz Gin
- 1/2 oz Maraschino Liquor (Luxardo recommended)
- 1/4 oz Lemon Juice (fresh lemon is always better, but who has time?)
- Cherry garnish (again, Luxardo recommended – you won’t be sorry)
Shake over ice and serve in a cocktail glass.
The original recipe calls for 1/4 oz of Creme de Violette as well, but lots of versions drop it. Who the hell has Creme de Violette in their bar anyway?
